Who am I? Why Mandalas?

Why Mandalas? Why not? In my 45 years of life I have always had a pen/pencil to paper. My senses drew me to patterns and design. I can’t resist taking a picture of a good pattern in nature or on a building facade. For me, drawing Mandalas is a scaled down version of patterning. I can make them as small or as expansive as the mood calls for. There is something so satisfying about enclosing everything in a circle. Since I have been creating them for the majority of my life (even when I didn’t realize I was), I decided to start to share and teach others how to draw mandalas back in 2017. Since then, I have been drawing, printing, creating in many forms and teaching Mandalas on and off. XXXX I have always worked full-time since I graduated college, but have never really found a comfortable place to fit my “Neurodivergent” brain. I graduated when digital everything was just starting to boom, and all I wanted to do was work with my hands. Because I wanted to be able to afford to live in the Northeast, I was stuck working for “the man” and could only alot a small portion of my time to art before I would burn out. XXXX Fast forward to March 2024, I was laid off for the first time in my life. I had a stomach ache for about an hour, and then the stress and depression lifted. The very thing that was keeping me going was actually the very thing that was holding me back. So here I am now, reboosting my business and being actively positive to be able to sustain and be happy at the same time. I am extremely excited to see where this adventure takes me. XXXX I am so grateful that I will be meeting new people and will be able to share this love of drawing to my community. What I am most grateful for is my husband, who even though his stomach ache lasted a little longer than mine did when I got laid off, has been a constant source of encouragement through this process. My family and my chosen family have also been my constant. Thank you. XXXX Come draw with me. XXXX Rachel
